The story behind the artwork

We had been travelling through Slovenia by car, visiting different towns and discovering the country one place at a time. We arrived at Lake Bled in the morning. It had rained the day before, and some of the morning fog was still dissipating when we reached the lake around eleven.

There was no wind, and the water was remarkably calm. Only a few people were nearby, and the lake seemed unusually quiet. As we walked along the shore, stopping occasionally to take in the different views, we could hear the water gently moving whenever a boat passed.

We had been wondering how people reached the island when we noticed several small boats leaving the shore and making their way toward the church. There was our answer. As I looked more carefully, I became aware of the beautiful reflection on the water. The lake was almost like a mirror, presenting the same scene again in reverse.

The boats were approaching the island one after another. I could see the possibility of a perfect moment coming together, so I waited until they were aligned and separated by just the right distance. The church, the mountains, the remaining fog and the reflections were already extraordinary. The boats became the final element that completed the scene.

I remember feeling both surprised and excited to be witnessing such a beautiful place. There was also a childlike anticipation in knowing that we could board one of those boats and discover what was waiting on the island. We continued walking for a while, but eventually found a boat and began the same journey I had just photographed.

I had seen many lakes before, but something about that combination of weather, vegetation, still water and quietness felt entirely new. Perhaps it was also our sense of adventure and the absence of expectations. For a moment, watching those boats cross the water toward an unknown destination felt as if I were experiencing such a sight for the first time.
Print Details

Every print includes a white border that preserves the complete composition while providing practical space for safe handling and framing, including presentation with a mat.

The image is produced on substantial matte fine-art paper through a professional pigment-ink process. Together, the material, printing method, and careful image preparation preserve subtle tonal separation, from fine detail in deep shadows to subtle detail in the highlights. Every piece is individually proof-tested before release, with final colour, contrast, and tonal decisions made by the artist rather than through automated laboratory corrections.
Limited Edition & Certificate

Each artwork is offered in a limited edition, with a separate edition established for each print size.

Every print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity identifying the artwork title, print size, and its individual number within the edition. The certificate confirms that the piece is an authentic, artist-authorized limited-edition print.

Your order also includes a separate sheet containing two serial labels that match the number on the Certificate of Authenticity.

Each artwork is available in five sizes. The dimensions shown refer to the full paper size, including the white border surrounding the image. The printed image area will be slightly smaller.

Production, Shipping & Framing

Each print is produced to order and fulfilled by a professional fine-art printing partner. The production partner and location may vary depending on the delivery destination, product availability, and operational requirements. These arrangements do not affect the artwork ordered, its limited-edition status, the Certificate of Authenticity, or Rodrigo Eng Photos’ quality commitments.

Prints are supplied unframed and normally shipped rolled in protective cylindrical packaging secured with end caps. The 12 × 18-inch Small print may be shipped flat when that option is available, but flat shipment is not guaranteed. All other available sizes are shipped rolled.

Orders ship directly from the print and fulfilment provider. Exterior packaging does not include a Rodrigo Eng Photos label or branding. Packing slips, sender information, return-address details, or other shipping documentation may identify the printing or delivery partner. Invoices, product prices, and promotional inserts are not included in the customer’s shipment.

Standard shipping is included for eligible addresses in Canada and the 48 contiguous United States and Washington, DC. Please allow approximately 2–3 weeks for production and delivery. Tracking is provided for every shipment. Customers are not expected to pay additional import duties or brokerage charges.

Frames, mats, and other accessories shown in room images are for presentation purposes only and are not included.
